Description
Photo of grades 8 & 9 in front of the McKinley School taken by Adelbert Orr in October 1906. The male teacher in the back would be the McKinley School principal for the academic year 1906-1907, Stillwater native, Old Town High School graduate (1897), and University of Maine alumnus (1901), Maurice Barnaby Merrill (1879-1956). The identity of the other two (female) teachers is not clear. One is likely his assistant Zilla Marion Sawyer (1887-1962). The visible architecture is in line with the McKinley building, but the entrance is not the main entrance.
